Despite his declining health, Alan Jackson continues to do what he enjoys most: create music. He has been composing music for 64 years, and he still enjoys the thrill of the creative process. In reality, he claims that he constantly comes up with creative concepts and musical ideas.
On the February 21 edition of his daughter Mattie Jackson’s podcast, In Joy Life, Michael Jackson promised to keep making music. Constantly jotting down notes and humming to myself tunes… There will be more music in the future, the 64-year-old dad remarked.
Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) illness is a genetic neurological disorder that typically affects the hands, feet, legs, and arms, and the interview took place less than two years after he disclosed his diagnosis. His CMT illness symptoms have been worsening since his first diagnosis in 2011.
According to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), CMT ’causes degeneration of the peripheral nerves, resulting to muscular weakness in the body’s extremities. In 1886, three doctors — Jean-Martin Charcot, Pierre Marie, and Howard Henry Tooth — independently discovered it.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is a hereditary disorder that affects an estimated 126,000 persons in the United States and over 2.5 million people globally. Comedian Anthony Ramos, actress Julie Newmar, and paralympic athlete Anthony Zahn are also living with the condition.
Alan Jackson was asked by his daughter whether new music from him will be coming out soon. To the joy of his devoted following, Alan said, “Yes, I would hope so,” and went on to say that, while he hasn’t done much touring in recent years, the “creative part jumps out every once in a while.”
Since his comeback in 2021 with the album Where Have You Gone following a six-year absence, Alan Jackson has not released a new studio album. Jackson received the CMA’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, after his 2017 induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

In a February conversation with his daughter, Alan Jackson said that his favourite part of his job is getting to write music. He said it’s “more fulfilling than anything” and went on to say that it’s more rewarding to him than, say, executing a routine task.
Making an album, and notably writing many of the songs for it, is considered creative work. It’s difficult, so it piques your curiosity. He once stated, “I think if I didn’t write, I would’ve gotten bored just singing a long time ago,” so don’t count on him to quit composing any time soon.
Recent headlines have detailed how Alan Jackson welcomed his daughter Mattie’s new husband Connor into the family by accompanying her down the aisle.
