Stapleton was given a rare opportunity to perform the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl.

This week saw the long-awaited showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. The 2023 Super Bowl served as the event’s official debut.

Before the festivities began this time, Chris Stapleton sang the national anthem. The artist walked out onto the pitch in his signature getup, complete with dark sunglasses.

Then, the crowd at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, as well as those watching on television, were treated to a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by the native of Kentucky.

Stapleton followed in the footsteps of other notable country artists who have sang the National Anthem before, such as Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, and Mickey Guyton.

The singer has said in the past that his style of singing is different and may not appeal to everyone. In June of that year, he was quoted as saying, “I don’t probably sing like a traditional country singer you know, but ultimately, I’m me.” To paraphrase, “I’m just trying to be the best version of that that I can be.”

What Chris meant to say was, “And whether that’s performing a song that leans towards blues or a song that leans into R&B or a song that leans into very obviously outlaw country. The music is fantastic. I don’t feel like I have to stick to one genre when I perform.

The singer’s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” stunned the audience. Thousands of people were moved to tears by it.
