When it comes to depicting Hollywood and its stars, most of us undoubtedly have a somewhat one-sided perspective. I’ll be the first to confess that I sometimes model my own style after that of famous people.
That’s not that unusual, per se; it’s only natural for people to mimic one another in terms of style.
It’s common to think of famous people as flawlessly beautiful and error-free. They have this immaculate presence in every cinematic appearance, whether it’s on the red carpet, in a photo session, or just out and about in public.
Once in a while, though, we get a glimpse of superstars as they really are, without the glam of make-up, the glow of flattering lighting, or the flash of designer clothing. Several similar instances have occurred in recent years, and each one serves as a welcome reminder that celebrities are, despite popular belief, human just like the rest of us.
On May 29, 2019, in Los Angeles, California, we saw Goldie Hawn. Picture by BG004/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images.
Goldie Hawn, at 74 years old, has been one of my favourite actors for as long as I can remember. Her brilliance, beauty, and charisma have captured the hearts of many fans throughout the years. Goldie has been a movie star for nearly 30 years, an achievement few people can claim.
Goldie’s breakthrough has resulted in constant compliments on her golden blonde hair and her inherent beauty. Goldie was featured on the cover of People’s “Beautiful Issue” commemorating 30 years in April 2020.
Goldie, the blonde peacemaker of today, exemplifies the ideal of inner beauty as a self-assured, powerful, and graceful elder.
However, things weren’t always thus.
When I was young, my chest was flat, my face was all over the place due to the onset of puberty, and I was socially inept.
No males ever asked me out, and I didn’t believe I would ever find love. She told Beauty Heaven that preteens have it the worst when it comes to self-esteem, and that the girls who are the most confident tend to be the youngest.
Goldie eventually came to terms with who she was as she gained notoriety and starred in numerous films. Goldie had to develop her own resilience in the face of several detractors with divergent viewpoints.
Otherwise, the criticism of others would have destroyed her.

Some people believe you’re pretty, while others think you’re hideous. They’re quite opinionated, so you’ll need to toughen up if you want to survive; doing so will require discovering and accepting your own identity and values. She adds, “I think that’s where I discovered my inner beauty.”
The Oscar-winning actress went makeup-free for a public appearance a few years ago. Many people responded to the picture since Goldie did not resemble the actress we have seen her portray on screen for many years. Without her usual makeup, she was almost unrecognisable (but the paparazzi still managed to snap her picture).
However, many people complemented her on her unretouched appearance, and I can’t help but like her laid-back demeanour. Goldie may not slather on 10 layers of makeup before heading out, but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t care for her face and complexion.
The importance of getting enough sleep cannot be overstated. Getting adequate sleep is crucial, as is consuming healthy oils, cleaning dead skin off your face regularly, and wearing sunscreen daily. And I really massage my lotions into my face, as Goldie puts it.
Goldie told Pop Sugar that she massaged her face with olive oil before night and then eats two teaspoons of it.
She said that dryness comes with age since “the skin is our biggest organ.”
Goldie is no stranger to queries about her body, complexion, femininity, and looks, thanks to the entertainment industry’s obsession with outward appearances. Many famous people throughout the years have sought to draw attention to the issue of ageism in the entertainment industry by using their platforms.
Hollywood’s finest, including Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, and Helen Mirren, have spoken out against ageism in the industry. Goldie, however, sees things from a somewhat different perspective, and she proposes an alternative approach to effecting change.
So you want to go up against the establishment? So, at 45, you want to show to Hollywood that you’re still a hot commodity? No. There is some truth to it. Does it incite anger in me? No. I’m not someone who easily gets furious. I’m not someone who takes up arms. Fury accomplishes nothing. In 2017, she told Harper’s Bazaar that the practise was counterproductive.
Hollywood couples often don’t stay together for long. Marriages and relationships in the celebrity world are notoriously transient. But apparently no one told that to stars Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, since they’ve been together for over four decades and are still very much in love.
Overboard, a romantic comedy from the 1980s, was one of the few films in which the two appeared together.
Kurt has continued to work steadily as an actor, with credits including Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and many installments of the Fast and the Furious series.
Goldie has left the spotlight for the most part. However, they appeared together in The Christmas Chronicles as Santa and Mrs. Claus. They will both be returning to their roles in the upcoming sequel.
Goldie has my undying adoration. She’s a fantastic performer and a really humorous, kind woman.
