“She was in a cardboard box, which was locked,” Hanners explained. “A passerby saw the box, stopped, and observed that it contained an uy. So, he opened the box, placed it on the side, and obtained water for it before dialing 911.”
Since Hanners was involved in the vehicle accident, another officer went to inspect the highway and wound up contacting animal control. However, as soon as Hanners was able, he proceeded to aid the journey himself.
“I told the man… “To terminate animal control,” Hanners stated. “I’m going to take the dog to the vet and have her examined.”
When Hanners arrived, the uy had not yet med; she was lying next to the box, dehydrated and overheated.
