Brown’s family told Fox 8 that “he passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home on Thursday night with his wife, Monique, by his side.” Brown had a ripe old age of 87.
From 1957 until 1965, Brown played in the NFL. He set a number of records during that period and was named MVP of the league in his last season, 1965.
Brown’s acting and civil rights activism flourished after he retired from football.
